FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Reporting to the Head of Reference & Instruction, the Outreach & Instruction Librarian works as one of a team of 10 librarians. Develops and delivers instructional programs, often incorporating new technologies. Acts as faculty liaison to the School of Education and others as designated; maintains awareness of curricular needs, teaching approaches, and research interests of faculty, and makes recommendations to support related activities. Engages faculty in information literacy initiative. Conducts outreach to various communities, including affiliated high schools and programs, the Learning Center, the Writing Across the Curriculum program, Student Affairs, alumni, and others. Collects resources in Education and other designated disciplines. Maintains knowledge of trends in scholarly communication. Provides traditional and virtual reference and research assistance. Collaborates with others in identifying, designing, and introducing new information products and services. Librarians within the City University of New York take active faculty roles, serving on committees and engaging in scholarly research and publication. Schedule may include weekend and evening rotations. All appointments are subject to financial availability. The position is set to begin fall 2013.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:
- ALA accredited Master's degree in Library & Information Science.
- Experience in an academic, research, or large public library.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience developing collaborative working relationships.
- Commitment to innovative and effective user-centered services.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
- Second graduate degree required for appointment above the rank of Instructor.
- Experience working with high school liaison programs or high school students.
- Experience working on department/library/college committee.
- Teaching/instructional experience in an academic environment.
- Knowledge of resources in Education and current pedagogical theories.
- Experience with current web and instructional technologies.
- Demonstrated success with scholarly research and publication process.
- The successful candidate will show evidence of teamwork, creativity, initiative, and flexibility.
