A father-son-and-daughter trio have been arrested for a spree of a bank robbery in Texas, according to ABC News. They also are suspected in several more robberies in nearby areas.
Ronald Scott Catt was arrested along with his two children, Hayden and Abby, after they robbed a credit union in Katy, authorities said. Ronald is 50 years old, Hayden 20 and Abby 18.
The Katy credit union robbery occurred on Oct. 1. Security camera footage shows two men, believed to be Ronald and Hayden Catt, robbing the credit union while wearing disguises and carrying firearms. The men left the bank with an undisclosed sum of money and entered a getaway car driven by Abby, police said.
Authorities were able to trace the crime back to the trio after security footage at a local Home Depot showed Ronald and Hayden purchasing the bright orange vests worn during the robbery. From there, the police were able to locate the Catt family.
The nearby Fort Bend Sheriff?s office told ABC News that the Catt family is very new to the Katy, Texas, area and that the father-son-and-daughter trio may be responsible for six more robberies throughout Texas and Oregon.
According to an acquaintance of the family, Eric Lundeen, Ronald was a single father who felt he had to provide for his children in the absence of their mother. Why he felt it necessary to involve his children in the spree of robberies, however, remains unexplained.
?He was a single dad. I think he lost his wife and he had the responsibility to take care of his kids, and I got to tell you, he was there for them,? Lundeen told ABC News.?
Lundeen added that the Catt family appeared to be ?really solid community members.?
Ronald and Hayden are both being held at the Fort Bend County Jail on bonds of $140,000. Abby is also in custody with a bond of $100,000.
